Jump into January with Bristol’s River Cottage Canteen

The River Cottage Canteen is kick starting 2014 with a fantastic line up of Tuesday night events. Canteen general manager Sarah Kieck and head chef Mark Stavrakakis are inviting guests to shake off the January blues with a combination of great seasonal food and entertainment from guest speakers and comedians in the warm and relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant.

 

Veg Out – Tuesday 7th January

The vegetarian and vegan evening celebrating the very best the season has to offer was so successful when first launched, that Veg Out is back for January. The a la carte menu includes helpful hints and tips on growing seasonal veg for those wishing to find out more about winter vegetables and how they can grow them at home.

Spice Night – Tuesday 14th January

It might be cold outside, but River Cottage Canteen is feeling the heat. Using the very best local and seasonal produce, head chef Mark Stavrakakis will create a menu of traditional Moroccan dishes with a River Cottage twist that is guaranteed to spice things up a little.

Comedy Night – Tuesday 21st January

Everyone needs a lift in the middle of January and River Cottage Canteen has the perfect event to cheer guests up. The Canteen will be hosting the next big names on the stand up scene. Guests can enjoy an evening of entertainment from the comedians along with a delicious menu showcasing the best of the local, seasonal, organic and wild produce.

Game Night – Tuesday 28th January

River Cottage HQ’s Steve Lamb will be returning to the Canteen, following the hugely successful Whole Hog event. Guests can enjoy a beautifully prepared three course set menu, based around local and seasonal game, whilst special guest speaker Steve demonstrates how to prepare and cook wild game.

Live Music Night – Wednesday 29th January

Back by popular demand, the FB Pocket Orchestra will be returning to the Canteen, bringing with them their hot jazz, blues and ragtime sounds, taking guests back to the 1920’s and 30’s.

Due to their popularity, both Veg Out and Spice Night will be taking place on the first and second Tuesday of every month.
