Down on the docks the tides are turning as Bristol’s harbourside continues to take strides in becoming a less commercial, more cultural centre in Bristol by providing an independent alternative to the high street this Christmas.
Over eight days, in the countdown to Christmas, the Harbourside Market will transform one of the incredible, unused buildings (formerly Chicago Rock) into a wonderful indoor market. The stripped back space will become home to around 30 stalls selling local produce and handcrafted wares (sometimes made right in front of you!). The walls of the listed building will be covered with the work of local artists, with a bar providing mulled cocktails and a chance to relax.
Market manager James Coomber says, “The Harbourside Christmas market will provide a vibrant, locally focused alternative for shoppers. The harbourside will be a really magical place to be this Christmas with both the Spiegeltent and the ice-rink adding to the festive atmosphere. Now all we need is some snow!”
The Harbourside Christmas Market will run from December 12th to 15th and 19th – 22nd and is open from 10am to 8pm. Christmas at the Spiegeltent runs from November 28th to December 22nd and the @Bristol Ice-Rink is now open until January 5th.
