Boston Tea Party Café (BTP) is pleased to announce the opening of its fifth café in Bristol – on Gloucester Road.

The opening is scheduled for late September and will be able to seat around 100 guests inside, with a further 50 outside. The new café will be based on the junction of Gloucester Road and Nevil Road (in the ground floor of the Horfield & Bishopston Unionist Club building), and is set to create over 20 jobs for the local community.

Sam Roberts, Managing Director of BTP, said “We have been looking for a suitable location to open on Gloucester Road for a few years now, and the building has bags of character and individual features which will look fantastic once completed. Gloucester Road is a great area, and we feel our offer will complement existing operators perfectly and hopefully together we can counter the current tendency of locals to head down to the bottom end of Gloucester Road for their food and caffeine fix!”

“The café will provide space for local artists to play or display their work and, if our existing cafes are anything to go by, will become a hub for the local community to meet and enjoy themselves”

The new café will operate in addition to BTP’s existing Bristol stores on Park Street, Whiteladies Road, Clifton Village and Cheltenham Road.

In addition to the new opening, BTP on Park Street is about to increase in size following acquisition of the upstairs space from the adjacent ‘£2 bookstore’ and the garden of Oxfam. Work is currently taking place to double the internal seating area of the café and this should be completed by the end of August. Work will then follow in October to extend the garden, again doubling the size of the outside seating area which has become a favourite haven on Park Street.
