Portishead is becoming one of the latest ‘sought after’ places to live in North Somerset. This lovely coastal town on the Severn Estuary is abundant with high quality shops and facilities, and investment in the area is growing.

One such investment has come from the renowned Italian restaurant chain Aqua who has poured over £250K into the former Jack’s Brasserie site, where they will be employing 30 members of staff.

This is the fifth restaurant for the Aqua brand, who opened their first restaurant on Bristol’s Welsh Back in 1998. This was followed by Walcot Street in Bath in 2004, Whiteladies Road in 2008 and Milton Keynes in May 2013. Aqua will also be opening a restaurant in Clifton Village in 2015.

Ben Smithson, Operations Director, said, “We are truly excited about coming to Portishead and are really looking forward to sharing our tasty food and professional service with local people.”

“We have been keeping a close eye on Portishead for a few years now. We saw great potential with the area as it is up and coming with huge amounts of development going on. It is such a lovely town with a real family atmosphere which is just what the Italians are all about! Portishead ticked all of our boxes; we are situated on the marina right by the water, have a large piazza for al fresco dining and a light and airy restaurant that will add another dimension to our ever-expanding portfolio of restaurants.”

“We can offer something totally unique to Portishead, with that premium feel at affordable prices. Aqua is about ensuring guests get the best possible products, new dishes that they can try such as pork cheeks or rabbit ragout. Or have a dish that they can relate to such as spaghetti and meatballs or comfort food such as a burger!

Ben went on to say, “We feel we have a really good balance with our menu as it is somewhere that you can come for a quick Italian meat selection, pizza or pasta dish, or spend the evening and go all out with lavish dishes such as lobster.”
