The Ring O Bells, Compton Martin, is organising its first “Somerset Cider and Cheese Fayre” bringing together the finest cider and cheese makers from across the county.
These days we like to know how and where our food and drinks are produced. This is a great opportunity to actually meet the producers, and sample their wares.
Cider is one of Somerset’s finest glories, offering tradition, history, folklore and tremendous variety. So come and decide for yourself what make a ‘real’ cider and chat with some of the friendly characters that keep the tradition alive to share their knowledge and techniques.
A total of 14 cider producers will be attending, with some fantastic talks on the subject being given by Julian Temperley (Burrow Hill Cider and Somerset Brandy), Alan Stone (Author: In search of Cider & The Somerset Cider Handbook) and others to be announced.
Many of the county’s finest cheese makers, both traditional and contemporary, famous and the unusual will be there for sampling and to share their secrets.
The event is being held in the beautiful garden of the Ring O Bells at the foothills of the Mendips. There will be a marquee making this an all-weather event.
The large pub garden will come alive with Morris dancers, bell ringers, vintage tractors, bunting, organic Yeo Valley ice cream, hog roasts and live folk music.
A great day out for all the family, attracting food and drink lovers from the surrounding villages as well as city dwellers from Bath and Bristol.
