The Turtle Bay Group, owners of 3 restaurants in the UK, is ready to open its doors in Bristol on April 26th, 2013. Turtle Bay Bristol is offering a completely authentic culinary experience with food, drink, décor, entertainment and personal service all coming together to create a casual and contemporary feel.

Turtle Bay MD Ajith Jaywickrema said, “We have employed 60 people locally and are committed to bringing a well-known, delicious and new range of Caribbean food to the table to tempt Bristol diners. Based right on the Centre next to the Radisson Blu Hotel and opposite the Bristol Hippodrome, our 120 seat restaurant promises something for everyone.”

Ajith went on to say, “The menu will be bursting with traditional ingredients native to the Caribbean with lunch and evening dishes ranging from Beach Food, inspired by beach shacks and street hawkers across the islands, to meat from the wood-fired BBQ and One Pot dishes such as Bob Marley’s reported favourite Rastafari Itah Run Down and Blue Mountain Goat Curry. Other irresistible specialities include Jerk Chicken, Trinidadian Rotis, and Banana Leaf Snapper.”

Operations Director, Stephen Entwhistle said, “What is fantastic about the City of Bristol is the diversity and culture of the people. The range and variety of Bristol’s food offering is known throughout the UK, at Turtle Bay we felt that it was time to place those well-known and not so well known Caribbean dishes right in the Centre, and at the heart of the City.”

Ajith started his career in restaurants over 20 years ago with a loan of £10,000. Ajith is the ebullient Sri Lankan-born Founder Director of Las Iguanas, a chain of 28 Latin American restaurants in locations around the UK, which started in Bristol.

Turtle Bay will be open seven days a week from 12 noon – 11.00 p.m. and until 11.30 p.m. at weekends.
