Organisers at have confirmed that Eat Drink Bristol Fashion – the popular “pop-up” event that celebrates Bristol’s thriving food and drink industry – will return to the city in 2013.
For two weeks from May 13th to May 27th 2013, Queen Square will host a spectacular “tipi village” that will house a fine dining restaurant for 100 people, a tapas cafe for 200, fully licensed bars, a live performance stage and an exhibition space.
With a finale on the May Bank Holiday Monday, Eat Drink Bristol Fashion will see many of Bristol’s best chefs and independent restaurants return to the iconic tipis as they each take a turn to wow diners with their menus.
For the more relaxed diner, event co-director and chef of the Pony & Trap, Josh Eggleton, will be offering a “modern British tapas” menu in the cafe, designed using local suppliers from the South West.
To accompany the wide offering of food and drink options, organisers at newly formed Eat Drink Events are scheduling some of Bristol’s best musicians and performers to perform across the two weeks.
With last year’s event seeing over 10,000 people attend, plans are underway to ensure that Eat Drink Bristol Fashion will be bigger and better in 2013. Additions for the forthcoming event will include:
– A South West Caterers Conference to discuss pertinent issues in the catering industry including sustainability, co-operative collaboration and promoting healthy eating
– Demos and talks from chefs and prominent industry figures
– A local market for suppliers to showcase and sell their produce
– A dedicated space for local organisations to utilise – this will include art exhibitions, theatre performances, talks and seminars
– A host of other events and collaborations to be confirmed
Commenting, co-Director of Eat Drink Events, Luke Hasell, said:
“We are absolutely delighted that Eat Drink Bristol Fashion will be returning to Queen Square for a second year. Last year we were overwhelmed by the positive response we received and amazed that over 10,000 people turned up to support us.
“We are aiming to build on last year’s success and not only will our tipi venue be bigger, but our programme of events will be expanding too.
“From suppliers, to chefs, to restaurants, the focus of the event will again be to promote Bristol’s thriving culinary scene. However, Eat Drink Bristol Fashion is about collaboration and we also want to use the venue as a place to showcase other aspects of Bristol culture – we’ll be delighted to hear from any individual or organisation who has a creative idea about how to use exhibition space in the tipis”
Josh Eggleton, Michelin starred chef at the Pony & Trap and Co-Director at Eat Drink Events said:
“Last year Bristol came out in force to support Eat Drink Bristol Fashion and we hope that the city will show the same interest second time round!
“We are grateful for the backing we’ve had from Bristol City Council and hope that the return of Eat Drink Bristol Fashion can help further cement Bristol’s standing on the British culinary map. This is a unique event that highlights how suppliers, chefs and restaurants can work together to great effect.
“Many people spoke favourably of the festival style atmosphere at last year’s event, and all of us at Eat Drink Events are working hard to ensure that Eat Drink Bristol Fashion will again be an event that Bristol can be proud of”
“There are many sponsorship opportunities available for this year’s event and anybody after more information should contact Amelia Twine at Amelia@eatdrinkevents.co.uk”
