January’s not my favourite month of the year. It’s the month in which everybody tends to hibernate, exhausted and penniless after Christmas. It’s the month in which many small businesses decide to open with reduced trading hours or, in some cases, not at all so that the owners can actually enjoy a break – especially after the busy Christmas period.
Despite all this, we still want a social life, and still want to be able to go out to eat, albeit on a budget. Luckily for those of us that enjoy going out for a meal, many restaurants have great special offers on in January, designed to combat our beginning-of-the-year poverty and, for them, simply to get more customers through the door in what is one of the quietest months of the year in the restaurant trade.
