Calling all foodies! Bristol’s Baldwin Street is to become home to Guerrilla Burger, a Manhattan style, gourmet slider & cocktail bar. Following a highly successful run of pop-up restaurants at the desirable 40 Alfred Place, owners and brothers Antony and Andrew Vecchio are looking to re-energise the city’s high street food scene, Guerrilla style!

Opening its doors to the public on 7th January 2013, the 70 cover restaurant space (Bridge House at 48-52 Baldwin St – the former home of El Guapo) has allowed Guerrilla Burger to further develop its trendy urban pop-up concept with a busy fast food area towards the front of the premises, comfortable and intimate booth seating at the rear and further seating at the bar. Think corrugated steel, reclaimed timber and abstract backdrops adorning the walls.

Tasty starters include Baby Arancini and Coconut Sesame Prawns. The mouth-watering selection of Sliders (mini burgers) features pop-up favourites such as The Spanish (a beef and chorizo combined patty topped with manchego cheese and quince jelly) and The Double Danish (a beef patty topped with bacon, crumbled blue cheese and avocado). Sides include crispy panko onion rings and cheesy potato croquettes served daily alongside the finest trendsetting cocktails from around the globe. Hand-made Italian gelatos, sorbets and frozen yoghurt, supplied by Gelupo, the Soho based gelateria, round off the new concept perfectly. You can see the full menu by clicking on the image below.

Last year the brothers spent some time in New York, and from a base in the meat-packing district of Manhattan developed the Guerrilla Burger concept. Drawing on the influences of the bars and restaurants of 10th Avenue’s Hell’s Kitchen, The Lower East Side and Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village.

“Once we decided Sliders were our USP we were off again to the States on a tasting mission! We were pleasantly surprised that our Sliders were as good if not better than many of the ones we tasted in Manhattan! We loved the idea of mixing the fast food concept with gourmet sliders, trend setting cocktails and chilled-out sounds; three of our most favourite things!

“We want to change people’s attitudes towards fast food and re-invent the way we eat burgers. The size of the Slider allows for more variety of flavours in one sitting and also gives you flexibility over how much you eat depending on how hungry you are! It’s a win win situation! Add this to amazing cocktails sourced from around the globe and probably the best hand-made Italian Ice cream in the UK and you’ve got the perfect combination for either a quick mid-week lunch or a leisurely evening chilling with friends.”

Guerrilla Burger promises to be the new way to dine. Booking for the evenings is highly recommended, especially if you want a booth (4 – 6 people). You can book by calling the booking line number on 07528 521 151 and via messaging on Facebook and Twitter. Anyone booking before the 7th of Jan will receive a special 20% discount on their table order (max. six people) and simply quote “iloveguerrillaburger” when booking.

‘LIKE’ the Guerrilla Burger Facebook page or follow them on Twitter @GuerrillaBURG to receive lots of free stuff and to find out about lunchtime specials, set menus and a la carte evening meals.

“We mainly use Facebook and Twitter to engage with our customers so encouraging people to LIKE us or follow us is essential to our marketing activity.”

The guys are experimenting with reverse graffiti and chalk based graffiti sprays so look out for the Guerrilla Burger logo around town over the next few weeks.

Guerrilla Burger is proud to accept the Bristol Pound. They also accept the Euro!
