From December 2nd, number 3 Queens Quay on Welsh Back will be home to the Cherry Duck Bistro – a brand new fine food and drink venue aiming to offer great food, a vibrant atmosphere and a good time to all who visit.
Cherry Duck is owned and managed by Jack Bain, who has worked within the catering and restaurant world since leaving college, including running his own catering business. This is his first restaurant, and his mission is to create a dining experience of the highest standards – using fresh and sustainable produce sourced from local businesses – to ensure a brighter future for our community.
By day, Cherry Duck will offer breakfast and lunch services alongside a café and premium beverages. By night it will combine mixology in its cocktail bar alongside a carefully chosen wine list accompanying contemporary menus. In terms of the Cherry Duck ethos, community and sustainability are high priority, and they will be working with local suppliers as much as possible. They will also be looking for a Charity of the Year partnership.
The Cherry Duck Facebook page offers a sneak preview of their menus, with a great looking December offer of 3 courses for £22.50. Starters include Bath Blue Croquettess with Wyfe of Bath, Caramelised Walnut and Chicory Salad with Pomegranate Dressing (£5.95), Butternut Squash and Parmesan Soup with Toasted Almonds and Parsley Oil served with Crusty Bread (£3.95) and Diver Picked Queen Scallops with Braised Chicken Wings, Jerusalem Artichoke Puree and Hazelnut Jus: (£7.95).
For the mains, diners will be able to choose from the likes of Poached Loin and Casserole of Venison with Chestnut Dumplings and Glazed Parsnips (£14.95) or Confit Duck Leg with Pan Fried Breast, Celeriac Puree, Marinated Cherries, Fondant potato and Cherry Jus (£12.95), while desserts include Lemon Pannacotta, Toasted Poppy Seed Marshmallow and Raspberry Sorbet (£5.95) and Chocolate Fondant, Salted Caramel, Sesame Brittle and Stout Ice Cream (£5.95).

Breakfasts look fantastic too (they’ll be serving American-style pancakes with maple syrup and streaky bacon, so I’m happy!) and I’m looking forward to sampling their cocktail menu… 🙂
After December 1st, Cherry Duck will be open 7 days a week, from 8am until 11pm. Keep an eye on their website, “like” their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter to keep up-to-date with their plans!
