Both independent music and independent food retailers will be coming together this December, when two much-loved Bristol brands will be combining forces.
Independent music retailer Rise, situated at 70 Queens Road (on the Triangle), have been trading since May 2009 and are well-known for their regular in-store musical performances. Artists such as Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons and DJ Shadow have all performed at the shop in the past!
“Healthy fast food restaurant” Friska currently trades from both a restaurant on Victoria Street and a further outlet at the Bristol & Bath Science Park in Emersons Green. Serving a range of sandwiches, wraps, hot mains and soups, the Victoria Street branch is certainly always popular with the lunch crowd, and queues are enormous!
Rise announced yesterday via Twitter that Friska will be running their in-store cafe concession from December – meaning that they’ll now have music, film, food and fashion all under one roof. It also means that Friska will have an outlet from which they can trade on Saturdays rather than just during the week, and judging from conversations on Twitter, they’ll be licenced too.
It’s great to see the independents sticking together in a part of Bristol that’s dominated by massive chains – I’ll definitely be heading over when they open!
