Bristol-based StrEAT has announced that seven amazing world food vendors will be trading at Green Park Station in Bath and at the 102 Cookery School on Bristol’s Gloucester Road during the first series of street food night markets, which started on Friday 6th July.
All the vendors have been handpicked and chosen for the quality of their authentic street food offering. Vendors hail from the Far East, Indian sub continent, Europe and those serving traditional British street treats.
Vendors include Baz and Fred’s gourmet pizza, Cupp Tea Bar (the UK’s first mobile Taiwanese bubble tea van), Coconut Chilli serving Indian inspired lamb kofte wraps, seasonal vegetarian delights from Cardiff’s finest ‘The Ethical Chef’ and even an oyster trike. Ice cream desserts will be supplied by VeeDoubleMoo.
Navina Bartlett, Coconut Chilli Digital stated;
“I’ve traveled extensively and have always loved eating on the streets. I want to broaden the minds of local people and encourage them to try new and authentic global street food dishes. Bathonians will be able to try cuisines that they may not have known about before and it will be great value.”
The collective consists of between four to six stalls. Vendors will be rotated over the nights of trading and there will be a couple of special guest vendors as yet to be announced.
Over the past few months street food events have become increasingly popular as it offers people the opportunity to try affordable, culturally enriching dishes whilst socialising and enjoying entertainment.
Street food is fast becoming the hot food trend in the UK. Lord Sugar set a gourmet street food task on the current series of The Apprentice. Candidates were instructed to produce and sell, as Lord Sugar put it, ‘fine dining on the street.’
Last September, Cafe Mor was crowned winner of ‘The Street Food Awards’. They will be serving their dishes from their own street food stall at the Olympics, thus further encouraging the popularity of this movement.
StrEAT is the initiative of cultural events company Coconut Chilli Digital who hosted several successful StrEAT events in Bristol last year and will be encouraging these events to have a ‘night market vibe’
The StrEAT Food Collective will be hosting a series of events at Green Park Station, Bath, on Friday evenings between 6 and 9pm: the dates are Friday 6th July, 13th July, 20th July, 27th July, 3rd August, and 10th August.
The events at Gloucester Road’s 102 Cookery School will take place on Thursday evenings between 6.30 and 10pm, on July 19th and 26th and August 2nd and 9th.
