Online wine retailer Naked Wines is currently on the road for its second UK Tasting Tour with over 30 Naked winemakers in tow, who have travelled across the globe to meet their Angel investors.
Naked Wines, the UK’s fastest growing online wine retailer, was born in December 2008 when twelve friends jacked in their jobs during the depth of the recession to do things a little differently. Their goal? To find the world’s most talented, undiscovered winemakers and set them up in business.
Their business model works on a subscription-type basis:
- “100,000 customers invest over £2m a month towards future orders (we call them ‘Angels’)
- Which we use to fund independent winemakers
- In return for exclusive wines at preferential prices
- Which we pass back to our customers”
Starting in Norwich, where the Naked offices are based, the retailer will cover ten cities in ten days, with over 4500 customers expected through the doors. Naked Wines will hit Bristol on Tuesday, June 26th, with the tasting taking place at The Passenger Shed between 6.30pm and 9pm.
There will be over 140 wines to try at the event, poured by the winemakers themselves, and tickets are £10 per person (with your money back if you order on the night).
Rowan Gormley, founder of Naked Wines, explains:
“We’ve got some exciting new names on board this year, all thanks to Angel investment, so it’s a great opportunity for customers and winemakers to put faces to names and share a glass in person.”
Winemakers joining the tour include Mike Paterson, Rod Eashtope, Virgile Joly, Carmen Stevens, Joost de Villebois, Patricio Gouguenheim, Rodolfo Bastida, Mauricio Lorca, Ryan O’Connell and Constanza Schwaderer.
