The annual Bath Ales Biking Bonanza is taking place on Saturday 9th June and the South-West based brewer is inviting everyone along to join in the fun.

The Bath Ales team, led by head brewer, Gerry Condell, is in training for this year’s event, which will help to raise money for the FAB (Frenchay After Burns) Children’s Club.

The fun, family charity bike ride takes cyclists along the Bristol and Bath Railway path, the popular 13 mile off-road route between the two cities, open to walkers and cyclists.

Fundraisers can start at the brewer’s Hop Pole pub in Bath or Gardiner Haskins’ car park in Bristol and cycle to Bath Ales’ new head office, Hare House in Warmley, the midway point.  Here cyclists will be treated to a BBQ and plenty of refreshments to a backdrop of live music.  There is also a raffle, lots of stalls and children’s activities.  After the festivities they can either carry on in the opposite direction or head back to the starting points.

Gerry Condell set up the fundraising Biking Bonanza five years ago after he suffered a burns injury. While receiving treatment at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, he learnt about the FAB children’s charity, which is run by volunteers.

Gerry, accompanied by some friends in fancy dress, is also undertaking a mammoth sponsored walk of over 70 miles, from the brewer’s  recently-opened Oxford pub, The Grapes, all the way back to the brewery, via its nine pubs and bars.

The brewery has raised in excess of £15,000 to date for FAB and this year’s event will hopefully raise even more for this very worthy cause.  FAB takes burn-injured children on activity camps where they can make friends and relate to children who have been through a similar trauma.

Entry to the Biking Bonanza costs £12.50 – with free entry for children under 16 years of age. Non-cyclists are welcome and can sign-up for just £10.

For more information and to sign up visit www.bathales.com/bonanza.  All proceeds will go to FAB, visit www.fabclub.org.uk for more information.

Cyclists need to gather at the starting points for 10 am, with the cycle starting at 10.30 am.
