On May 24th, Samsung UK announced the launch of its first UK cookery school which it is opening in affiliation with leading kitchen appliance retailer Nailsea Electrical. Set in a stunning church conversion on Bristol’s bustling Gloucester Road, 102 Cookery School will offer a variety of classes in a fun and informal atmosphere for novice and experienced cooks alike to learn about food, drink and gastronomy.

102’s purpose-built cookery school features state-of-the-art Jamie Oliver-endorsed Samsung kitchen appliances including Samsung Dual Cook ovens, Samsung AnyPlace induction hobs and Samsung Steam Compacts – so everyone will have a chance to use the best quality hobs and ovens that money can buy as well as learn new skills. The Cookery School will play host to a number of classes and courses, including ‘demonstration and dine’ evenings led by the South West’s finest Michelin starred and AA Rosette rated chefs, many of whom make up the member base of prestigious industry networking group The Chefs’ Forum.

Classes will range from ‘Knife Skills’ to ‘Bread Master Classes’ and ‘Tutored Wine Tastings’. Courses are designed to suit beginners as well as experienced cooks and foodies. Authentic ethnic classes are also on offer including Indian, Thai and Jamaican. All classes, courses and events involve tasting, but most include eating what you’ve made in the class, so at the end of a few hours in the kitchen, visitors will be able to enjoy the results in a beautiful, relaxing dining area.

As well as classes, 102 Cookery School will host exciting opportunities to meet and cook with leading chefs. Events already planned include seasonal foraging and cooking along with wild food ‘demonstration and dine’ evenings with expert Toby Gritten who appeared on Channel 4’s Jamie’s Great Britain last November and monthly live cookery and wine paring with Michelin Starred Josh Eggleton of The Pony and Trap. Ronne Faulkner of Ronnie’s of Thornbury & The Muset by Ronnie, Christopher Wicks of Bells Diner and Peter Gorton of Masterchef fame will also be gracing 102’s top notch Samsung kitchens on a regular basis.

Nick Bevan, Product Manager for Samsung Home Appliances said “Samsung is thrilled to be part of 102 Cookery School. We’re excited to work with top local chefs in Samsung’s very first UK cookery school venture and are looking forward to giving everyone the opportunity to use our leading technology.”

Ben and Pete Gilks, Directors of Nailsea Electrical and 102 said: “After expanding our business by opening a fully working showroom we have seen that the public have a genuine interest in food and the methods by which it is cooked to get the best results. We’ve been inspired by this to create a food and drink venue like no other and are very excited for the launch.”

Throughout June 2012, 102 Cookery school will host a month of cookery showcases every Saturday for the local Bristol public to visit the venue and see first hand the fantastic Samsung branded facilities. All subsequent cookery courses can be booked at these events as well as online at http://www.102cookeryschool.co.uk/.
