Three of the restaurants involved in the ‘Around The World In 80 Days’ campaign are encouraging couples to try some new foods this Valentine’s Day. On Saturday 18th February, Piccadilly, Iroko and Byzantium will be playing host to a couple who want to sample cuisine from India, Nigeria and Spain on the same night.
The couple, Rosie Freeman, 32 and Sam Tajdin, 41, both from Bristo,l were married twice last year in an English ceremony as well as a traditional Indian wedding. Sam is from India and loves to eat his mum’s home-made curries. He wanted to arrange something extra special for their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple.
Their romantic meal will begin at Piccadilly, an international restaurant in the heart of Easton. The couple will be able to choose dishes such as Caesar salad, tandoori king prawns or calamari, as well as a wide selection of Lovely Drinks – from a local drinks company based in Barrow Gurney.
Next stop will be Iroko, Bristol’s only Nigerian restaurant, where the couple will be treated to traditional dishes like spicy chicken wings or suya, beef BBQ skewers, all washed down with some Tusker beer or palm wine.
Catherine Giwa, owner, Iroko, stated:
“Wow, what a lovely romantic idea! Sam has really pushed the boat out for his new wife. We will show them some of our famous Nigerian hospitality and they will be treated to some really exciting food as well.”
Finally, the couple will head to the sumptuous and exotic Byzantium bar and restaurant where they’ll end their meal with the dessert course. Byzantium is the perfect end to Valentine’s night, as the large venue has a full bar selection, including a range of cocktails, and customers can enjoy dancing well into the night.
Rosie, who has a sweet tooth, will be able to devour a Seville orange-scented custard tart (Spanish menu) or a butter shortbread with honeycomb cream and passion fruit (Valentine’s menu) – well it is the most romantic evening of the year! Rosie will even be treated to a box of chocolates, a special Valentine’s gift from all the staff at Byzantium.
Rosie and Sam’s romantic food voyage has been organised as part of the ‘Around the World in 80 days’ campaign which aims to support local, independent ethnic restaurants in Bristol. The website www.80-days.co.uk features money off vouchers and events.
