Penny Walters from Bristol has been crowned the winner of Table Table’s national Best of British recipe search competition.
The competition win has seen Penny not only having her recipe included in a charity cookbook, but also winning a year’s worth of free meals at the Wessex Flyer Table Table in Hengrove Way.
The cookbook will be available to buy in all Table Table restaurants for just £2 as of Monday, December 12th. All proceeds are going to the charity WaterAid, which works to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Penny, who has been cooking since her university days, triumphed over 200 entrants with her potato and coconut crème soup recipe which the judges praised for its appetising appearance, full flavour, and dedication to the best of British ingredients.
Penny said, “I adapted this recipe for my family following a visit to Jamaica, so it is a real thrill to be able to share it with others in this way. WaterAid is such a good cause so I could not be more pleased. I just hope everyone else enjoys the soup as much as my family do.”
