It’s been a while in the making, but it’s finally here! The culmination of almost nine months’ work by Emily Knight of Bristol Bites and Chris Brown of Bristol 24-7, the aim is to create ‘the definitive guide to food and drink in Bristol’ to keep you updated with everything that is going on in and around the city.
You’ll notice from the tabs at the top that you’ll still find a lot of the same things – news, reviews, a guide to food and drink events in Bristol – as were featured on the old blog, but hopefully they’re now easier to navigate. You’ll also notice that we’re beginning to introduce posts from guest authors (like Andy Batten-Foster’s write-up of his visit to the newly opened Lahloo Pantry), so if you’re keen to get involved, drop us an email.
The new Bristol Bites site also includes a host of new features. Our Recipes section includes contributions from local restaurants, bloggers, chefs and Bristol Bites readers: if you want to share your creations with the world, there’s an easy way to do so via the form on the Recipes page. Any recipe submitted will be fully credited to you, with a link back to your website, if appropriate.
The new site also includes the Bristol Bites Directory: a fully searchable database of food and drink businesses in the BS postcode areas. Restaurants, pubs, producers, markets, supper clubs, shops, cookery schools, caterers…they’re all in there. Listings include contact details (including social networking links where relevant) and the opportunity to give your feedback on each individual business. The Directory already features over 200 food and drink-related businesses, but if yours isn’t on there, there’s a simple listing upload form to fill in so that we can include you.
We’ll also be sending out a monthly newsletter (and the occasional additional newsletter if we have something really exciting that just can’t wait!). This will replace the emails that were sent out from the blog whenever a new post was published, and will include details of new additions to the site, news, and the odd competition here and there. All you need to do to sign up is to fill in the small form at the bottom right hand side of the homepage.
We have more additions, including a food and drink jobs board, planned in the next few months, but if there’s anything else that you would like to see (or if you have anything to say about the new site in general) let us know via the comments box below!
Thanks,
Em and Chris
