Another new Bristol restaurant has appeared over the last week, with number 146 St Michaels Hill having been turned into a “traditional Italian restaurant” called La Passione, owned by the same people that are behind the restaurant of the same name in Kingswood…
The address, previously home to Indian restaurant Monsoon Spice (and, before that, St Michaels Raj) doesn’t currently appear to have a website, but you can contact them by phoning on 0117 934 9096.
The balloon-bedecked blackboard outside advertises a lunchtime offer of any pasta or pizza from the menu for £5.95, any time between 12 and 2.30pm – expect similar fare to many Italian restaurants on the pasta menu (Bolognese, carbonara, arrabbiata), but with some slightly different alternatives such as rigatoni vulcano (£7.95) with mushrooms, bacon, chilli and tomato sauce, and tagliatella pescatore (£10.95) with tiger prawns, salmon and a tomato and cream sauce.
The pizza menu is extensive, with twenty different options at around £8-£11 each, and you’ll also find a range of fish, chicken, veal and steak dishes on the menu – click on the (very small, sorry) image below for more information. I particularly like the sound of their Trotta Cleopatra (£13.95) – trout cooked in wine, butter and lemon with capers and prawns.
Think this could be another pre-Wednesday night quiz option for us to try in the near future!
