A brand new venture for the summer for the Middlewick Holiday Cottages, who will be hosting Friday night pop-up suppers between July and September 2011…
The venue, set in 16 acres of countryside at the foot of Glastonbury Tor, will be opening its doors to both residents and visitors for a series of themed supper evenings over the course of the summer. Taking place at 8pm every Friday between July 22nd and September 2nd, the suppers will be hosted in the Middlewick function room, with views over the fields of Glastonbury from three of the room’s four sides.
Communal dining is the idea of these evenings, with diners seated at tables of eight…which means that those interested can either come alone or as a couple/group. Costs will be £25 per head for either a meat or vegetarian meal (£12 for children aged under 10) – book quickly, as there are only 40 places available on each night.
Jill Barker, who has recently taken over Middlewick Holiday Cottages, says, “We wanted to give people a new dining experience. Pop up galleries and pop up shops are becoming common in the big cities and we thought it was time to bring the idea to Somerset. Our Friday night pop-up suppers will feature a different chef and style of cuisine every week, so why not come and join us every Friday over the summer. We have created a friendly and informal dining space and we are delighted with the quality and range of chefs we have discovered working locally. We cannot wait to hear people’s reaction.”
The first supper is this Friday, July 22nd and features a four course Italian feast prepared by Philip Campagna – originally from Sicily but now living in Somerset. For a full list of their upcoming suppers, click on the picture below…
