Bristol’s Harbourside is the chosen location for the first authentic StrEAT food festival in the South West, serving delicious street food dishes from all around the globe. StrEAT is Bristol’s global street food collective serving global street food from all over the world. Hot and delicious dishes from Thailand, India, Spain, Indonesia, Jamaica and other countries will be served from 11am until 8pm. Families will also be able to enjoy live entertainment and activities for kids.
StrEAT is the initiative of cultural events company, Coconut Chilli Digital. The collective consists of between six to ten stalls and vendors are people from local communities who are passionate about food and will be serving up ‘the real deal’. The vendors will be encouraged to stick to food portions costing around £5 and there will be smaller portions for children.

“I was approached by Coconut Chilli Digital who wanted to host a branded street food festival in Anchor Square. It’s a brilliant way to introduce people to foods and flavours from other cultures and a perfect addition to our own Royal Wedding festivities. At-Bristol is offering all visitors by the name of William or Kate free entry into the science centre on 29 April and the Royal Wedding will also be shown on the big screen in Millennium Square. There will be deckchairs for people to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere around the harbourside – it’s going to be really lovely!”

“I’ve traveled extensively and have always loved eating on the streets. I want to broaden the minds of local people and encourage them to try some authentic global street food dishes. Bristolians will now be able to try cuisines that they may not have known about before and it will be great value.”
Street food is hugely popular in countries such as Thailand, Singapore and India. Restaurant groups such as Pho and Masala Zone have already picked up on this trend, but a truly authentic street food experience has yet to hit Britain. Street food is already gaining popularity in the USA, in cities such as Portland, Oregon and San Francisco.
The StrEAT food collective will be serving food between 11am and 8pm on Anchor Square, Harbourside on Friday 29th April.
