Head to the corner of Whiteladies Road and Apsley Road this Saturday, April 16th between 8.30am and 2pm for the Whiteladies Road Easter Market. With the sun making an appearance and with it the arrival of some superb produce, there has never been a better time to visit your local farmers’ market. You’ll find a fantastic selection of fruit, vegetables, bread, meat, cakes, jam, chutney, charcuterie, fresh fish and much more from some highly respected producers such as The Bath Pig, Wooton Organic, Bordeaux Quay, The Better Food Company, Organic Blooms and many more. Stock up on lovely local food, flowers, and gifts for you and your friends and family to enjoy over the Easter break…
As well as all the gorgeous stalls there’ll be music a BBQ and a fantastic free Easter Egg hunt for children. Visit the market to collect your egg card and then follow the clues around some of the local shops to collect your egg tokens before returning your full card to the market for a prize.
Lorna Knapman says, “There are some fantastic shops on Whiteladies Road and this is a great, fun way to involve them in the market activity. It’s so important that we support local, independent businesses. They are key to our recovery from our current economic situation. Farmers and local producers offer us a more sustainable, healthier and increasingly a more affordable alternative to supermarket shopping and deserve as much support as we can possibly give them. It’s such a positive, fun and tasty way to invest in your local economy and in yourselves.”
The Whiteladies Road Farmers’ Market has certainly seen increased footfall and attendance of stallholders in the last year, with the average number of stalls now well over 20. The market takes place every 1st and 3rd Saturday and is run by Sustainable Redland, a group of very passionate, local volunteers.
